About the Program

The year 2025 marks the anniversary of the Credo text. Specifically, the Nicene Creed, which forms the basis of nearly all settings of the Credo. First formulated in 325 at the Council of Nicaea, the text celebrates its 1700th anniversary this year. It is the only profession of faith acknowledged by all Christian churches.

To mark this occasion, Carus Verlag Stuttgart has commissioned a special composition. The idea: six composers from different cultures contribute their own musical language in six movements. The result is a work symbolizing unity in the diversity of Christian traditions. Six internationally renowned composers have thus created a truly unique piece.

Vocalforum Graz has the honor of presenting the Austrian premiere of this work. The approx. 70-minute program also features Credo settings by Palestrina, Leontovych, and Herzog, as well as organ works by Gabrieli, Frescobaldi, and Bach.
